How We Obtain
and Verify Our Data

At FFRA, our commitment to transparency guides how we develop and maintain this directory. While we prioritize collecting data direct from film recycling collection partners, we haven’t been able to connect with all locations offering these services. As a result, some location data has been aggregated from a variety of sources. We understand this approach may result in some outdated or inaccurate information – such as changes in collection practices or site closures – however, we believe more options is ultimately more beneficial for consumers seeking recycling solutions.

Throughout 2025, we are actively collaborating with our collection partners to audit and verify locations with the support of third-party verifiers. To ensure a practical approach, we will employ sampling methods to verify locations rather than conduct a full review of every site. Sampling is a widely accepted best practice in audit programs, especially when large-scale local verification is required. To further supplement our verification efforts, we encourage consumer input to maintain the directory’s accuracy. If a user identifies any issue with a collection site, we encourage them to report it. Each report triggers a review by our team, who will contact the location directly and update the directory as needed.

In addition to verification of site operations, we will also audit material going from collection depot to recycler so we can better understand potential gaps in the recycling process and quantify what percentage of collected films are successfully being recycled.

Starting later in 2025, verified locations will be marked with a checkmark to indicate that the location’s information and recycling practices have been reviewed. As we learn more, we anticipate the release of an annual performance report on flexible film recovery efforts.

Recycling flexible films requires a collective effort among many diverse stakeholders, including retailers, the flexible film industry, brands, recycling professionals, municipalities, and counties. This directory – and the verification efforts behind it -  represents a collective commitment to ensuring transparency, accuracy, and public confidence in the flexible films recycling process.
